日本人が、何年英語勉強しても喋れるようにならないのは、いったいどうしてなのでしょうか？英語圏はともかく、他のアジアの国々と比較しても、日本人の英会話力はかなり低いそうですね。日本語の発音が、英語とはほど遠いものだからでしょうか？それともなんでもカタカナで書くクセがあるからでしょうか？留学経験のある友達は、日本人のスピーキング不得意は、「自信の欠陥」と「人付き合いのおっくうさ」からくると言っていました。彼がアメリカで出会った日本人の中には、1年以上留学しているのに、5フレーズほどの短い文章でしか喋れない人がたくさんいたそうです。一方、英語が全く話せなった人でも、1年後にはネイティブの人とほぼ同等に喋れるようになった人もいるそうです。両者の大きな違いは、積極的に（多少ムリしてでも）人と関わっていたかどうかにあるそうです。どんなことでもいいから人と関わり、ひと言でもいいから話すことによって自信を付けていくと、だれでも英語は喋れるようになるらしいです。あと英語の教材としては、エブリデイイングリッシュ教材なんかどうかなと思っています。
